BOARD

My research takes place primarily in Norway, with occasional international encounters that have informed and expanded the work. Based in Oslo, with strong roots in Hamar, where I was born and where SIB Dance Lab is based, I move between these two places as a natural part of my practice. London has also been a significant presence in my artistic formation. I spent sixteen years there, including my studies at Laban Conservatoire, and the city continues to hold relevance in my professional life and collaborations.

As a freelance artist, I do not work from a fixed institution. Instead, I research in the spaces available to me, studios, galleries, outdoor environments, and my own home. This flexibility is not incidental. It is part of the methodology. In many ways this MA is a continuation rather than a beginning. I have always researched through everything I do, and what the MA offers is a more defined and structured space for an inquiry that has been ongoing for a long time. Teaching, performing, facilitating, collaborating, all of it functions simultaneously as practice and as research site. The work is the research, and the research is the work.

NOT YET de(part) is a co-created work with Patricia Okenwa. This documentation brings together material from two performances, tracing a transition between processes rather than presenting a finished whole. It does not document a single event. It is itself a rhizomatic document — open, layered, and still in motion. All participants who contributed to the work are credited within the film.

Videography: Xiaoke Ding edited by Patricia Okenwa
